Former Alskan Gov Sarah Palin is allged to have had an affair witha pro basketball star and her husband's former business parrner according to sa new book publiched this week byJ Joe McGinniss author of thebest selling Selling of the President that was the first major expose of politcal TV commencials.
The book comes just days before Palin is scheduled to make a major announcement on if she will run for Prsiedent or not on Sept 24.
McGinniss lived in Alaska as a niegbor of Palin's in a house next to hers while writing his book on Palin and her family.
It is claimed that she snorted cocaine off a 55 gallon drum at a party in college . There are no other references to a constant use of drugs, however.
McGinnisis's charges have a potenntial to seriously damage Plain's "famly values" image if proven true. Palin already has a highnegative rating-with just 24% approval rating according to national polls taken earlier this year. At present Palinand Michelle Bachmann are close to tied with each other while Rick Perry and Mitt Romeny lead at being the Presdential front runners.
Allegations of drug use have not always beenfatal to candidates. Presidet George W Bush survived allegations that he snorted cociane while in the Texas National guard and there were unporvendrug allegations leveled against Sen Barack Obama during his college years. President Clinton had charges of using majuana that dogged his campaign in1992.
Infidelity charges has not sunk every candidate either. Presient Grover Cleveland survived charges of fathering a illigitmate child in 1880 to win the Presidency
